Can you attach stirrups to the riding pads?
No, a riding pad is generally not suitable for use with stirrups, as the pressure applied without a saddle tree acts pointwise and can harm the horse's back. A saddle tree is meant to evenly distribute the rider's weight and the pressure when the stirrups are engaged. If there is no saddle tree present, but stirrups are still attached, this leads to localized pressure points on the horse's back. The riding pads from SIGNUM are tree-less and therefore consciously forgo stirrups.
For those who enjoy the feel of a riding pad but do not want to give up stirrups, the PADDLE® is an excellent option. This innovative blend of saddle and riding pad features a special pressure distribution element that evenly and gently distributes pressure on the horse's back when using stirrups. The PADDLE® does not have a traditional saddle tree, but thanks to the innovative pressure distribution element, attaching stirrups is possible without pressure peaks on the horse's back. The PADDLE® provides the riding sensation of a riding pad with direct contact to the horse. Its flexibility allows it to adapt individually to the shape of the horse's back. The Velcro cushions and adjustable headpiece enable a customized padding that offers true spinal freedom and plenty of space over the withers.
