With our configurator you can now design your individual Western quilted pad, which not only fits optimally but also perfectly matches your look and your equipment. Whether for leisure trail riding or a show appearance: rely on the highest quality from MATTES and create a genuine one-of-a-kind.

Shape & Fit

Our Western Square Pad follows the classic rectangular Western shape and is cut so as to fit perfectly under your Western PADDLE®. This ensures an ideal contact surface and even pressure distribution.

Colours & Materials

• Outer material quilted fabric: high-quality cotton/polyester blend in countless colours — from classic earthy tones to vibrant shades.

• Leather components: top band and Edging are available in black, brown or champagne. For the up to three decorative cords, almost 50 colour shades are available — including our sparkling Crystal cord made from rhinestones.

Functional Extras & Customisation

• SPINEFREE® version: reliably prevents any pressure on the withers and spine area.

• CORRECTION® System: choose between a single or triple pocket, each with three interchangeable 5 mm thick POLY-FLEX® Felt Inlays. This allows you to compensate for changes in the horse’s body by up to 30 mm — ideal for growing young horses, after a longer rest period or seasonal training adjustments.

Construction & Comfort

The Western Square Pad consists of two stable, air-permeable layers:

1. POLY-FLEX® (central needle felt): guarantees shape stability and even pressure distribution.

2. Polyester wadding: provides soft, breathable padding.

We deliberately avoid foam, neoprene or gel — keeping the entire construction open-pored and air-permeable. Your choice of the Western Square Pad means: perfect ventilation, easy cleaning and a permanently airy microclimate under the Western PADDLE®.
