With our configurator you can now design your individual Western quilted pad, which not only fits optimally but also perfectly matches your look and your equipment. Whether for leisure trail riding or a show appearance: rely on the highest quality from MATTES and create a genuine one-of-a-kind.
Shape & Fit
Our Western Square Pad follows the classic rectangular Western shape and is cut so as to fit perfectly under your Western PADDLE®. The full-coverage, soft lambskin on the entire underside ensures the highest cushioning and an ideal fit, while also conforming to every contour of your horse’s back and preventing unwanted slipping.
Colours & Materials
Outer material quilted fabric: high-quality cotton/polyester blend in countless colours — from classic earthy tones to vibrant shades.
Underside with lambskin: a full-coverage, soft lambskin in over 30 colours — for maximum comfort, optimal pressure distribution and gentle ventilation.
Leather components: top band and Edging are available in black, brown or champagne. For the up to three decorative cords, almost 50 colour shades are available — including our sparkling Crystal cord made from rhinestones.
Functional Extras & Customisation
SPINEFREE® version: reliably prevents any pressure on the withers and spine area.
CORRECTION® System: choose between a single or triple pocket, each with three interchangeable 5 mm thick POLY-FLEX® Felt Inlays. This allows you to compensate for changes in the horse’s body by up to 30 mm — ideal for growing young horses, after a longer rest period or seasonal training adjustments.
Construction & Comfort
The Western Square Pad with lambskin underside consists of two stable, air-permeable layers:
POLY-FLEX® (central needle felt): guarantees shape stability and even pressure distribution.
Polyester wadding: provides soft, breathable padding that complements the lambskin superbly.
We deliberately avoid foam, neoprene or gel — keeping the entire construction open-pored and air-permeable. Your choice of the Western Square Pad with lambskin means: perfect ventilation, easy cleaning and a permanently airy, temperature-regulating microclimate under the Western PADDLE®.

Pflegeanleitung für Steppstoff-Satteldecken
Sorgen Sie dafür, dass Ihre Steppstoff-Satteldecke jahrelang in Bestform bleibt! Mit unseren sorgfältig zusammengestellten Pflegehinweisen bewahren Sie nicht nur die hochwertige Qualität Ihrer Satteldecke, sondern verlängern auch deren Lebensdauer erheblich.
Regelmäßige Reinigung: Nach jedem Gebrauch die Satteldecke mit einer weichen Bürste oder einem Tuch von Schmutz und Haaren befreien.
Lüften: Nach dem Reiten die Satteldecke an einem gut belüfteten Ort aufhängen, um Schweiß und Feuchtigkeit entweichen zu lassen. Dies verhindert die Bildung von Schimmel und unangenehmen Gerüchen.
Korrekte Lagerung: Lagern Sie die Satteldecke an einem trockenen und sauberen Ort, fern von direkter Sonneneinstrahlung und Feuchtigkeit.
